"The ideal home: big enough for you to hear the children, but not very well." ~Mignon McLaughlin
Got some goodies in the mail about a week ago. Pretty paper! Soon to be turned into invitations for the 3rd Girlfriend Gathering to be held next month. All those who have attended, be on the look out for your invitations in the mail in the next week. The gathering started as a time for me to reconnect with my girlfriends. As a new mom three years ago, I was starving for some girlfriend time. So I called all my friends, we had a soul food potluck and a guest speaker who spoke about the importance of female relationships. Talk about fun times! I couldn't believe the response!! The ladies requested another gathering which happened last year with a co-worker speaking about sowing seeds into other people's lives. As an added bonus, we had a swap and shop with the ladies taking home some goodies that the others couldn't fit anymore. Then again, this year, the ladies started asking when was the next gathering. So, it's on! And I am about to burst with the details, but I'll keep them under wraps for now :-) But it's going to be a blast!
And for the last month, we have been heavily into Operation Keep-Rhyan-In-His-Own-Bed. We tried this back in May with NO success. Of course, I've been bribing him with computer time and the promise of a "climbing bed" i.e. bunk bed. And it's worked! Every morning that he sleeps in his own bed he gets a sticker on the calender situated next to his bed. He even reminds me about the sticker. The deal is: he has to stay in his own bed until the sun is up. We've only had about 3 nights of backsliding! Woo Hoo! Talk about happy. I haven't been this rested in months.
This weekend found my dear hubby and I stopping in on a number of our favorite furniture stores looking for climbing beds and Rhyan couldn't have been more pleased. As we looked at beds at store number one, it hit me. OH MY GOODNESS, I'm a parent. I mean, looking for bunk beds to accomodate our growing child. WOW! I definitely had a moment. I'm a grown woman, with a husband and kids! HUH? How and when did that happen? In any event, I'll keep you posted on our search for the perfect climbing bed.
In cute little kids news, Rhyan has taken a liking to his tool set that I bought him ages ago. If anything needs to be fixed (and even if it doesn't) he's on the scene with his tool set--hammering away. Nothing is safe--not even the wildly growing bushes in the backyard. He sees to it that they get a good "sawing." Gotta love this kid!
