I'm reveling in the the peace that I have when I drop Rhyan off at his new daycare. Such sweet peace. He loves it there! So glad I listened to that inner voice. And his new daycare provider has the greatest activities for them.

For King Day, the kids created art that was showcased at an art show and sold. So cute. They even had their pictures taken for the program with their age and what "technique" they used on their art project. My guy mastered the paint dotting technique! Rhyan picked out his own art to buy and requested that it be hung up in the den.

Now if that isn't a boost to a kid's self--to have your art framed, showcased and sold--I don't know what is!

Observations....

This is daddy's way of soothing the baby's crying. And......it actually worked.

Been chatting it up a lot lately with this fat little bundle of joy and getting lots of these smiles lately.

It's safe to say that I'm going to be doing a lot more chatting with him.

On the Go

I love being able to strap the baby on me and go! Thanks Nedra! Sling courtesy of Baby Sling. And the beauty of it, is that unlike being pregnant (especially in those latter days), I can unload him at any time. Plus, he's not as fussy as when he's in the car seat when we are out and about and you can even nurse with the sling on. Okay, I know this is not a commercial for the baby sling-but I really love this thing.

Getting in the Groove...slowly

The baby announcements are finally done! I proudly handled everything by myself--even the shots are mine. I had plans to send out 100 of them. But real life set in and the list was cut down drastically to those who don't read the blog. I was so ambitious about the things I could get done when the baby was still in my belly!

And the boy's room (so funny to say that) is slowly coming together. I finally got around to putting up the rub on quote that I ordered months ago from Wise Decor. Can't wait until the whole room is done!
 

Smiles

I got my first real baby smile on Monday. I was chatting with the baby and he was staring at me and listening intently as I was telling him how fat he is now, how he's beautiful, how we love it that he's here now.....and there it was...a smile as bright as the rising sun. It spread across his face and made this tired mommy very happy. I only wish I could have captured it on camera. Amazing how something so simple can make a parent so happy.

That's not the only smile these days. Mommy is thrilled as we have found a new daycare for our big guy! Just a few weeks ago I was a nervous wreck about his daycare situation. Now he's happy about going--well, most days. This morning he wanted to stay home and play video games.  Now I'm not getting calls everyday. And he's not hit anyone. And when I call to check in, she says he's just fine. And it's just five minutes from the house. Oh Joy!

One Month Already!

My heart swung open wide with love for the new little one who arrived a month ago today. I wondered if I could love a kid as much as I love Rhyan--yep! No doubt about it.

Slowing Down

“Always remember to slow down in life; live, breathe, and learn; take a look around you whenever you have time and never forget everything and every person that has the least place within your heart.”

I love how life slows down to a snail's pace with the arrival of a new baby. Of course, life needs to be tended to, but the most important thing is nurturing this new life. Learning his habits, tuning into his needs.

A year ago, I couldn't have imagined that my life would have down-shifted to the slow lane. I was running frantic...never having enough time to do anything. I hated the course that my life had taken. I don't want to juggle a zillion things and not have enough time to do them all. The Lord knew just what we need right? A new life to slow us down.

Just as I've been thinking about how to incorporate a more slow steady pace into my life, I happened across this beginner's guide to slowing down. My favorite is #10--take a nap. I think I'll go do that right now.
