"Hair is vitally personal to children. They weep vigorously when it is cut for the first time; no matter how it grows, bushy, straight or curly, they feel they are being shorn of a part of their personality. ~Charles Chaplin
Hair cuts are a weekly thing in this household.......and every week along with the hair cut comes crying, weeping, snotting. So I had a professional cut our big boy's hair. The first hair cut went well. The second one didn't happen due to all the crying, weeping and snotting. Can anyone tell me why a kid who has been getting his hair cut for years can't stop crying about it?
We headed home to the Bay Area last week to visit so I decided to stop by my cousin's barbershop to see if he could help us out since he's good with kids. The heaven's opened up and this kid sat there without crying and squirming. Then he tells me he wants him to always cut his hair. 300 miles for a tear-free hair cut!

There's one member of our household who took his hair cut like a man.....and it was his first.
