"You can hear the footsteps of God when silence reigns in the mind." ~Sri Sathya Sai Baba
My six-year-old has been known to call me a "twitterhead" once or twice. And it's true. I've got an addiction to Twitter. So much info from people in different places--all in one place. I've gotten leads on good music. Met a new friend there. And just been encouraged and enlightened in more ways than one.
As of Sunday, I'm taking a break from Twitter; part of a 21-day fast I'm on. There are some areas in my life that need a divine touch from God. A touch that can only come from humbling my soul before Him in fasting. So I made the hard choice to cut out TV and social networking as well. The constant chatter of Twitter and Facebook would be sure to drown out God's voice. Didn't realize how hard it was going to be until today. I felt like I was going through withdrawals.
Then I heard God's still small voice. "What if you checked my Word as often as you checked Twitter?"
Enough said. So I'm sitting at the feet of Jesus. Hanging onto His every Word and looking for miracles on the horizon.
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook and see an update from me, they are automated postings from this blog or from my Tumblr account where I'm doing the 365 photo project.
In the meantime, silence is going to be my companion for a bit...
